Tuff-N-Uff announced today, March 6, the multi-fight signing of IBJJF gi and no-gi black belt world champion Renato Canuto.
Canuto, 28, was born in Sao Vicente, Sao Paulo, Brazil, and fights out of Los Angeles, California. Continuing the legacy set by his father, Valdir Canuto, he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2016, where he worked with Robert Drysdale and earned his black belt. Canuto has earned various titles under IBJJF World, IBJJF Pan, CBJJ Brazilian Nationals, Kasai Pro, UAEJJF Grand Slam, IBJJF International Open and American Nationals Championships. With wife Raquel Canuto, he is the head instructor at Hybrid Jiujitsu in Las Vegas, Nevada.
In an interview with Jits Magazine, Canuto states, “UFC is a whole different world of treatment that I’m getting right now, so, it’s super exciting.” Canuto then mentions his enjoyment of training and preparing for MMA, wanting to at least get a feel for the sport after remaining committed to jiu-jitsu. He looks forward to his upcoming match versus Oliver Taza at UFC Fight Pass Invitational 10, a rematch from the 2019 ADCC World Championships.
Canuto will make his MMA Debut later this year, announcing the news in 2022 following a year of refining his material arts skills.
