Tuff-N-Uff 146: Shabazyan vs. Phillips

Tuff-N-Uff returns to The Observatory North Park in San Diego on Thursday, July 17

Jamie Siraj vs. Marlon Gonzales headlines Tuff-N-Uff 146, continuing promotion’s California expansion

Tuff-N-Uff officials are excited to reveal the promotion’s return to “America’s Finest City” with “Tuff-N-Uff 146: Siraj vs. Gonzales,” an event loaded with top international talent that takes place on Thursday, July 17 at The Observatory North Park in San Diego, California.

The night’s featherweight headliner features a former Tuff-N-Uff champion in Canada’s Jamie “The Gremlin” Siraj (12-3) taking on Peruvian brawler Marlon “Fortaleza” Gonzales (15-7-2), while longtime Absolute Championship Akhmat and Absolute Championship Berkut standout Khuseyn “Shy” Shaykhaev (12-1) debuts for the promotion in a featured 140-pound catchweight matchup with ONE Championship veteran Ilimbek Akylbekuulu (9-3) in a battle of Chechnya vs. Kyrgyzstan.

Tickets for “Tuff-N-Uff 146: Siraj vs. Gonzales,” beginning at just $60, are on sale now at Ticketmaster.com.

The Tuff-N-Uff 146 main card streams live on UFC FIGHT PASS, while preliminary bouts will stream live on the Tuff-N-Uff YouTube channel. Additional bout announcements will be made shortly.

“Our debut event in San Diego was an absolutely incredible evening of entertainment, and we’re excited to return with another fantastic lineup of the Future Stare of Mixed Martial Arts,” Tuff-N-Uff CEO Jeff Meyer said. “With more than 30 years of promoting top-level combat sports events, Tuff-N-Uff is excited about expanding beyond our well-established roots of Las Vegas, and we’re bringing some of MMA’s absolute finest prospects to the beautiful backdrop that only San Diego can provide.

“This is sure to be an all-action event and another step forward in the growth of the Tuff-N-Uff brand into California. You absolutely don’t want to miss out, so get your tickets quickly.”

Siraj earned the Tuff-N-Uff featherweight title with a thrilling fifth-round TKO win over BRAVE CF champion Nemat Abdrashitov this past December, marking his ninth straight victory, and he appeared to be on the verge of a UFC contract. However, in March, 10-time UFC veteran and “The Ultimate Fighter 14” winner Diego Brandao spoiled that plan with a spectacular win of his own to claim the title. Now, Siraj looks to begin again his climb back to the sport’s highest stage.

Meanwhile, Gonzales has proven himself as an all-action fighter in previous stints at Combate Global, Fusion FC, Inka Fighting Championship, and more. After suffering a loss in his promotional debut to Hawaiian standout and Tuff-N-Uff 145 headliner Canaan Kawaihae, Gonzales returns to the Tuff-N-Uff cage looking to secure his first win for the organization.

KSNV Sports anchor Bryan Salmond calls the action at Tuff-N-Uff 146 alongside “The Ultimate Fighter 29” cast member and former Tuff-N-Uff amateur welterweight champion Ryder “Rhino” Newman, as well as UFC, Bellator MMA and World Series of Fighting veteran Justin “Guitar Hero” Jaynes. Dana White’s Contender Series, UFC FIGHT PASS Invitational and Power Slap veteran Justin Bernard serves as in-cage announcer.
